Rescrape ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and web platform. This document is designed to meet the transparency requirements of the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
02. Data We Collect
We collect information that identifies you or can be used to identify you ("Personal Data"). This collection is necessary to provide the core bidding and logistics services of the Rescrape network.
Name & Contact: Full Name, Primary Email Address, and Mobile Phone Number.
Purpose: Account creation, auction notifications, and secure multi-factor authentication.
Market Activity: We log every bid placed, auction created, material category selected (Metal, Plastic, E-Waste), and realized transaction value.
Purpose: To maintain a non-repudiable audit ledger for material recovery and financial payouts.
In-App Chat: We collect and store messages exchanged between Sellers and Dealers.
Purpose: To facilitate logistics coordination and resolve marketplace disputes.
03. Sensor & Hardware Utilization
To function as a geofenced marketplace, the application requires specific hardware permissions. Granting these permissions is essential for the "Nearby Auction Discovery" core feature.
What we collect: Your exact Latitude and Longitude coordinates while the app is in the foreground.
Usage: Used to calculate the geofence for broadcasting auctions to nearby Dealers and matching Sellers with the nearest logistics nodes.
What we collect: High-fidelity images of scrap materials (up to 5 per listing).
Usage: These images form the 'Material Profile' used by Dealers to audit material quality, contamination levels, and estimated weight before placing a bid.
What we collect: Unique device tokens (FCM/APNS).
Usage: Delivering real-time 'Outbid' alerts, message notifications, and logistics scheduling updates.
04. Identity Verification & License
Professional Dealer Nodes are subject to higher verification standards to protect the integrity of the network.
- Business Identity: Collection of legal business names and registered office addresses.
- License Compliance: Dealers must provide valid business license details for verification during onboarding and compliance reviews.
- Identity Documents: Optional upload of government-issued IDs to verify the identity of the account holder.
05. Third-Party Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share your information only with service providers necessary for platform operations:
- Mapping Services: Location data is shared with Google Maps API for coordinate visualization and reverse-geocoding.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Photos and documents are stored securely on AWS/Google Cloud servers.
- SMS Gateways: Phone numbers are shared with OTP providers solely for account verification.
06. User Sovereignty & Data Deletion
You retain full control over your data. In compliance with Apple and Google standards, we provide a direct path for data management:
Right to be Forgotten
Users can request full account deletion through the app settings or by contacting our nodes. Upon deletion, all personally identifiable information is removed from our active databases within 30 days.
07. Security & Retention
Your data is protected by industry-standard encryption (AES-256) during transmission and at rest.
Retention Policy: Material audit logs, bid history, and transaction records are retained for a minimum of 24 months to satisfy legal and environmental compliance standards before being archived or deleted.
