Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 | Full Transparency Disclosure for App Store & Play Store Compliance.
01. Introduction
ReScrape ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (representing the Seller and Dealer workflows) and web platform. This document is designed to meet the transparency requirements of the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
02. Data We Collect
We collect information that identifies you or can be used to identify you ("Personal Data"). This collection is necessary to provide the core role-based bidding and direct-logistics services of the ReScrape network.
Name & Contact: Full Name, Primary Email Address, and Mobile Phone Number.
Purpose: Account creation, OTP-based registration email verification, auction updates, and secure login.
Market Activity: We log every bid placed, listing created, material category selected (Metal, Paper, Plastic, E-Waste, or Custom 'Other'), and floor prices.
Purpose: To maintain a transparent bidding dashboard for active, closed, and sold auctions.
In-App Chat: We collect and store messages exchanged between Sellers and Dealers.
Purpose: Unlocked solely when a Seller accepts a Dealer's bid, allowing parties to coordinate pickup timing, vehicle dispatch, and exact address details.
Direct Settlement: We do not process, collect, or store any banking details, UPI pins, credit card numbers, or financial transaction logs.
Purpose: ReScrape operates on a 0% commission basis. All payments are settled directly between parties on-site at pickup.
03. Sensor & Hardware Utilization
To function as a geofenced marketplace, the application requires specific hardware permissions. Granting these permissions is essential for the "Nearby Auction Discovery" and "Listing Pin" core features.
What we collect: Your exact coordinates while using the application.
Usage: Used by Sellers to pin their scrap location on Google Maps, and by Dealers to calculate and scan active listings within their custom geofenced operational radius.
What we collect: High-fidelity images of scrap materials (up to 5 images per listing).
Usage: Allows Sellers to construct the scrap profile, helping Dealers audit material quality, weight estimation, and contamination levels before bidding.
What we collect: Unique device tokens (FCM/APNS).
Usage: Delivering real-time 'Outbid' alerts, instant chat message notifications, bid status updates, and onboarding verification statuses.
04. Identity Verification & License
Dealers and Recyclers are subject to mandatory identity and business checks to maintain platform safety and trust.
- Business Identity: Collection of legal business names, dealer profiles, and operational addresses.
- License Compliance Documents: Dealers must upload clear images of their business registrations (such as GST certificates or local municipal trade licenses) during registration.
- Admin Verification: Documents are audited by ReScrape administrators to grant official verified badges before enabling active bidding privileges.
05. Third-Party Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share your information only with service providers necessary for platform operations:
- Mapping Services: Location data is shared with Google Maps API for visual mapping, coordinate placement, and geofence distance calculation.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Scrap listing images, registration certificates, and account profiles are stored securely on AWS/Google Cloud servers.
- SMS/OTP Gateways: Phone numbers and emails are shared with OTP verification services solely to authorize accounts during signup.
- Analytics and Performance Monitoring: We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect diagnostics, crash reports, and anonymized app usage behaviors. This helps us monitor app health and improve overall stability. No personally identifiable information is transmitted via analytics.
06. User Sovereignty & Data Deletion
You retain full control over your data. In compliance with Apple and Google developer standards, we provide a direct path for data management:
Right to be Forgotten
Users can request full account deletion directly through the app drawer settings (Help & Support → Delete Account) or by emailing our support team. Upon request, all profiles, listing details, and message logs are purged from our live database within 30 days.
07. Security & Retention
Your data is protected by industry-standard encryption (AES-256) during transmission and at rest.
Retention Policy: Scrap transaction history and verification audit logs are retained for a minimum of 24 months to satisfy legal and environmental compliance audits before being permanently anonymized or deleted.
